Destiny Blade Concept
"You came here expecting insanity, however you must understand that everything I have said is the incorruptible truth. This world reflects your soul onto itself, projecting our existence as we desire to be. However it is incomplete. Look at your journey and see that everything you have done has led you to this moment, to the creation of this blade; the embodiment of your destiny. You tried so hard to embrace the light, but it was not yours to embrace, but now it is yours to protect. Only one who lets darkness into his own heart will ever understand how to fight it. Never forget: darkness and light are both necessary, they rely on each other and work with each other, despite their opposing nature. Now go and reap the fate you have sown." -Yue

About 30 minutes ago I finished the entire boss fight and final cutscene before the last level and its related scenes. What this means is that the game is roughly 65-70% done. I aim to get this game done before May, if I can keep up the pace however, it will be done before February ends. But enough of that I want to talk about the game itself.

I've gone a long time without saying anything about how the game will play and what you should expect. I don't know if anyone is even reading these other than one person, but regardless, this is how my game plays.

The game in concept was inspired by Hapland, a flash based puzzle/timing game. You can play this game on DA (check my favorites). And another flash game I played on Newgrounds called "Warbears". My game is a mix of the two. It is similar in regards to Hapland as you click on objects to play the game. It is similar to Warbears in the sense that you control a character instead of controlling the random inanimate objects you are clicking.

Playing the game is simple. Your goal is to complete the mission given to you by getting your character to where he needs to be. This is done by clicking objects in the game world to interact with them, but the catch is that you can only interact with stuff that your character is in a position to interact with. Basically if you equip a pistol and click an enemy inside a building you haven't even entered, you won't do a damn thing. But if you're in a room with an enemy who is unaware of you, you could shoot the pistol in that case. You can only go through a door that you can physically get to, basically.

What happens if you come across an enemy who is aware of you and expecting you? Well I'll let you see how that plays out when you play the game.

That's about all I can say about that. The title of the game? That'll be revealed soon enough.

I prefer sticking with 2d because the scope is small enough that I can do something with the guns. If I made them in 3d that's about all I could do with them. I can't program anything other than flash, I would have to relearn everything to do anything. With flash I already know how to make what I want and do what I want. The learning process is not worth the effort if I don't get a job in it. And I probably wouldn't.
